Join HUGG for a FREE Soft Pastel Creative Workshop in Bantry, Co. Cork. This relaxed and welcoming workshop offers a chance to explore creativity, connect with others who have experienced suicide loss, and enjoy some time for yourself.
No previous artistic experience is needed. Come along, try something new and discover the simple pleasure of working with soft pastel.

Exploring Creativity Through Soft Pastel
Soft pastel artist Emma Phillips will lead the workshop. Emma draws inspiration from wildlife and the natural world. She will introduce you to the expressive qualities of soft pastel art and guide you through a range of techniques.
You will explore blending, layering and creating texture. You can work at your own pace and experiment with colour and form. Emma will offer guidance throughout the session.
We will provide all materials, and you can take your finished artwork home with you.
- Who Can Attend: Adults aged 18 and over who have been bereaved by suicide can attend. Family members, friends and others affected by suicide loss are warmly welcome.
- What You’ll Do: Explore soft pastel techniques and create your own artwork with guidance from Emma Phillips.
- No Experience Needed: You don’t need any previous artistic experience. Simply come along and enjoy exploring the creative process.
- A Supportive Space: Take part at your own pace in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Spend time with others who understand the experience of suicide loss.
A Gentle Space to Pause and Connect
Creative activities can offer a lovely way to slow down, focus on the present moment and take some time for yourself. Working with colour and texture can help you step away from everyday pressures and enjoy the simple process of creating.
The workshop also gives you a chance to meet others who have experienced suicide loss. You can chat and connect with others, or simply enjoy the creative activity at your own pace.
Complimentary refreshments will be served on arrival, with sandwiches provided at the end of the workshop.
