NewsCharity Day success

Golf clubs raise huge sums for charity every year and Dun Laoghaire is no exception with its annual Captains Charity Day set to raise well in excess of €25,000 for HUGG and Irish Red Cross for Ukraine this year.

With a few initiatives yet to be completed, it will be some time before the final sum raised by Captains John Burke and Una O’Grady is known. But it will be a significant help not just to the Irish Red Cross but also to HUGG (Healing Untold Grief Groups), which is a national suicide bereavement charity providing support groups led by those with lived experience of suicide.

HUGG’s founder and CEO, Fiona Tuomey and Frank Phelan from the Irish Red Cross attended the charity day and were hugely grateful to Dun Laoghaire and their lead sponsors, SoftCo and Bank of Ireland Payments Acceptance, and to all who donated auction and raffle prizes.
