HUGG is the only national organisation providing this type of suicide-specific support, i.e. suicide bereavement support groups led by trained volunteers with lived experience of suicide loss.

When you support HUGG, your donation goes further than hope and healing, it is helping us to provide a lifeline to people who are of greatest risk to suicide.

The support that HUGG provides is known as “postvention,” which is a form of suicide prevention. Postvention refers to activities that reduce risk and promote healing for people impacted after a suicide. Through being there for those who have lost someone to suicide, HUGG helps to reduce the heightened risk that the bereaved person may experience following a suicide – which it has been established is ten times higher than with the general population

At HUGG we deeply appreciate the generosity of our donors and hold ourselves to the highest standards of integrity and accountability. We recognise that each donation, gift, and bequest is a testament to the trust and support placed in our organisation, and we pledge to handle them with the utmost care and respect.

    Charitable Guidelines

HUGG is a registered charity and adheres to charity regulator guidelines. HUGG operates within the Guidelines for Charitable Organisations on Fundraising from the Public, ensuring transparency and accountability. We treat all donors with respect, honesty, and openness.

Your generous support will enable us to continue to provide and grow our support services, information and resource provision, advocacy, education, and research. You’re making postvention possible – and postvention IS suicide prevention in action.

Please join us in ensuring that anyone bereaved by suicide in Ireland has the support they need to survive the darkest days of their lives, and find that hope is possible.

This is not a crisis that can wait. People bereaved by suicide need our support today – and sadly, even more will need our support tomorrow. You can make a real impact today, whether you would prefer to support us with a monthly, annual, or once-off donation.

*Donations totalling €250 or more in a year can be worth 45% more to HUGG if you pay income or capital gains tax.

Do you know that if you are an Irish tax payer and you donate €250 or more to a registered charity in any year, the charity can claim 45% in tax relief under the Charitable Donation Scheme.
This means that your kindness will go even further towards helping us continue to provide free services that support and inform people who are living through suicide bereavement.
