HUGG is committed to its mission of providing hope and healing for anyone bereaved by suicide and advocacy is an important part of this mission and our strategic plan.

We want to engage with suicide research, to better inform public policy and improve bereavement services.

To do this we also need to collaborate with professionals and organizations in the bereavement sector to advance best practice.

This will help us to raise public awareness about suicide bereavement, and be a voice for those bereaved by suicide.

HUGG’s involvement at the NSRF ‘Connecting Research to Practice’ conference in May 2023 was another example of this strategic plan in action. As Fiona Tuomey said, “Collaboration and coproduction in action.”

Fiona Tuomey had the the opportunity to have the voices heard of those who engaged in the survey when she presented the findings of AfterWords A Survey of People Bereaved by Suicide in Ireland

Along side Fiona was  Eve Griffin Dr Noel Richardson South East Technological University & Pa Reilly Pavee Point Traveller & Roma Centre; & Alison Stapleton University College Dublin

We will continue to be that voice.
