HUGG is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Telephone Supporter to join our remote team. This part-time role is crucial in providing initial contact and ongoing support to individuals navigating the complex journey of suicide loss across Ireland.

About HUGG: A National Lifeline

Established in 2018, HUGG is Ireland’s national suicide bereavement organisation. We are unique in providing suicide bereavement support.  We offer a crucial lifeline through various services. These include peer support groups, a telephone support line, an informative website, vital research, and impactful advocacy and educational work. Our mission is clear: to ensure every adult bereaved by suicide in finds support, hope and are free from stigma.

The Role: Your Impact as a HUGG Telephone Supporter

You will be at the forefront of our direct support services. This role requires a hands-on approach and the capacity to work on your own and to make decisions to best assist callers.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Initial Support: Provide compassionate telephone support to individuals contacting HUGG for suicide bereavement assistance.
  • Courtesy Calls: Make courtesy calls to current HUGG group attendees, fostering connection and checking in on their well-being.
  • Resource Navigation: Offer signposting and resources to those bereaved or those supporting the bereaved

This position directly aligns with the National Office for Suicide Prevention’s (NOSP) national strategy. Connecting for Life 2021-2026 identifies a key goal: “To provide support to those bereaved by suicide.” Your work will be a direct contribution to this national effort.

Role Details & Application

This is a part-time position, requiring 15 hours of work spread over 3 days. We offer an initial 1-year contract with a salary of €13,512. The role is entirely remote, allowing you to work from home.
