We are pleased to announce that HUGG has been awarded a grant from the Donegal Public Participation Network (PPN). This funding will be used to purchase essential IT equipment for HUGG Donegal helping us continue to deliver our hybrid peer support groups for people in County Donegal impacted by suicide grief.
Funding Recognition
We sincerely thank the Donegal PPN for their support of our work and for enabling this important investment in our resources.
This project has been funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht under the Local Enhancement Programme 2025.
The support from the Donegal PPN is greatly appreciated and allows HUGG to continue providing consistent and accessible support to those navigating suicide loss.
Supporting the Donegal Community Through Peer Support
Losing a loved one to suicide is an extremely difficult and often isolating experience. Individuals grappling with suicide grief frequently face increased mental and physical health challenges.
HUGG’s peer support groups offer a safe and welcoming space where people can connect with others who truly understand their pain. There is a strong evidence base showing that peer support offers participants hope, healing, and can lead to post-traumatic growth.
Ensuring Accessible Support with Essential Equipment
Our peer support groups are primarily in-person, but we also provide a hybrid option via Zoom. This flexibility is crucial for ensuring that support is accessible to all in Donegal, including those who may be unable to travel due to factors such as:
- Mobility issues
- Lack of transport
- Inclement weather
- Caring responsibilities
The grant from the Donegal PPN will be used to purchase a new laptop and essential accessories. This equipment is necessary to maintain and refresh the resources used by our volunteers, ensuring the reliable delivery of our support groups. This direct investment will significantly benefit our group members throughout County Donegal.
